With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

It goes without saying that I love the internet. So I probably should have kept that to myself, but sometimes it can be undervalued. The internet can be a hub of information and inspiration. Of course my blog is my part of the interweb, where I can create and be in control of what I want to show and express. Lately however every corner I visit seems to be like a playground, instead of a grown up debate there's lots of drama and don't even get me started on the amount of times I've seen the word jealousy throw around. It's great that people are expressing, as you may of read here I've felt like no one really speaks out about their real feelings.

But and this is a HUGE one it's sad to see and I'm talking about the blog community here, people discard and even bully people into agreeing with their view. An opinion is just that, it's someones view a perspective on a situation. To me it's perfectly natural to disagree, I personal trust someone more, when they express that actual they have a different view- Of course it will still have to be with my moral compass, as somethings are less debatable and more to do with ignorance.

That's a whole other post, so lets focus.

People get upset, just because this world is virtual does not mean there's lack of emotion. However I really don't see why everything seems to boil down to jealousy, is it not possible for someone to not have a personal problem with someone but not embrace every single thing that they do. I like to get peoples take on things, that's what my 'issue' posts where born out of. I guess not just as a blogger, but as a grow up I feel that we are responsible for what we put out there. Again you may not agree with this, and that's fine. I guess a way to look at it would be, what if you were teenager again and were reading what you read now. Would what you see influence you in a good or bad way? You may think that no one's really listening in this sea of bloggers, but I'm sure that they will be. I'm not going to support something because it's popular, I'm going to support what is right and what I agree with.

At the same time I don't want to bully anyone into agreeing with me, I accept that what's right for me is different for others. Words are very powerful, belittling someones view is not responsible it's actual a little desperate. It's not about how many people follow you, we all have great power as words can change how we feel. Which some are quick to forget.

There seems to be this hype that we're all talking about the same things, and I know that I'm not the only to feel like saying 'actual I don't care' not in a nasty way. I guess I would rather pour myself into things that people are not talking about, as usually issues that need debating are pushed under the rug. Than again that's just my opinion or maybe I'm just jealous who knows.

With thanks to Stan Lee for one of my all time favourite quotes.

  1. I'm not sure how I'd be if I was a teenager now. People said our generation was affected by films and "violent" computer games, but there so so much more now. We're constanly connected, and some of the stuff I see new-wise on Facebook shocks me, I can't imagine what it would do to a 12 year old. Shutter to think.

You can rest safe knowing that deep down you are in control of doing the right thing, so stick to that.
