So my wonderful boyfriend was ill and had to stay home today, he sat down and took these pictures for me of today's outfit. I really love them, today's outfit was inspired by 'This is England 86' I have been waiting to see it.  The film  'This is England' was so brutal but compelling, it deal's with the issues that were happening at the time including racism and the Thatcher year's. I really loved the girls clothing, all the outfits reminded me of seeing my mother in over sized jumpers and funky jewellery  and buckle ankle boots.

I don't love the 80's but it was part of  my childhood and reminds me of being at my nan's
who I miss deeply and the different styles in my family from the Mod's to the Rockers. I still can't believe my mum use to wear a buttoned down Ben Sherman, and a mini skirt she also had a cool bowl cut and wear cool make up. Now she never wear's make up and is into comfort wear. It get's me thinking about my son being a 2010 kid, will he look back and think what the hell were you wearing, and will I be wearing some checked twin suit (scary) with a nanny perm. I am watching 86 now and so far it's great ...check it out.
What is your favourite decade? Is it the decade you were born in?

  1. It's just over. I wanted to watch it but my sister had the TV. I saw the This Is England movie. Brilliant. The first photo is really amazing and your outfit is great. I'm a 90's kid. It wasn't that great.

  4. Omg - I feel OLD! I'm a 70s child (but only just - was born in May 1979, so one of Thatcher's children). I do remember quite alot about the 80s - Boy George, Princess Diana's wedding (just), Bros, Kylie and Jason etc. But I think my favourite decade was the 90s. We had grunge, minimalism, Brit-pop, super models, fatboy slim - need I say more? And of course, I was growing up in this decade, first boyfriends, first time getting drunk, leaving home, getting into music, all the rites of passage stuff! Whenever I get nostalgic, it's always for the 90s. Can't believe it's so long ago now! xx

fav decade is either 50s/60s, 50s as it was the birth of rock and roll and the teenager, now that is a decade i can get down with!

saying that 20s is next on my list. i was born in 85
