January Favourites

This month has gone on forever, maybe it's because of lack of funds it felt that bit longer. But I'm looking forward to February, and moving a little closer towards Spring  and seeing the sun a little more. Saying that january is always a busy month for me, I have my sons birthday, my mums, my birthday and we always remember Barrys dad on his birthday. So it can be a bit of an emotional one.

Logan and I planted some daffodils last summer, and we were so disappointed that they didn't bloom as we were too late- as they are more of a spring plant. But this morning we spotted the tops of them, poking out through the soil. It made me smile, as this month hasn't been easy. If those little guys can survive the cold and wind, push there way through all that dirt then I can do the same. Push on and do my best to push myself to grow. Still I'm trying to pluck out the positives and all that jazz, and I do feel that I've had a productive month. I've managed to clear out a heap of stuff to the charity shop, and sell a couple of bits so my hoard is on it's less legs and I'm sure I will push myself even more come February. I thought I would start doing my favourites every month, something that I can stick too also it's nice to reflect.

My rainbow scarf and £3 coat

Without a doubt,  one of the best things I ever thrifted was this rainbow scarf which shocker was £3. I know people are probably sick of the sight of it, but it makes me so happy it's so soft and keeps me toasted on the school run. I think it's going to be hard to put this away come summer. Lately I've been throwing on more whatever then actual real put together outfits, so this always feels like whatever I have on there's still that fun part of me.

This coat was an odd one, I saw it a bunch of times at the charity shop and decided that I had resisted it's charm for long enough. So far I've worn it every week, and it's great when it's raining so turned out to be one of thee most practical coats I own. It cost £3 and is a weird kind of sex shop pink, but as I finally watched Blade runner 2049 and enjoyed it (of course it was never going to match Blade Runner) but I'm all over the plastic, vinyl, trash and faux fur vibes. I love thrifted fashion, and if you would like my pro tips have a look here.

Healthy tea/ Drinking more water

If you have read my blog for a while, you will know that I have the worst health. I suffer with chronic migraines. I now have the joy of tinnitus in my left ear, and due to my BDD I suffer with anxiety, insomnia and depression on and off. So it's always fun and games, but ever the optimise I like to believe that any little change will help. So I picked up some  teas one with vitamin c to boost my immune system, instead of my caffeine (I'm still having caffeine, but I've manage to reduce it) almost have mint as it reminds me of  going to my favourite restaurant with my favourites. I can't do green tea sadly, but I'm finding I'm enjoying fruit teas more and more.

Water has actual made a  big difference, I've noticed I have a little more energy, not heaps I'm not running a marathon or anything. But I do feel a little more with it, I've noticed my skin has cleared up a little as well. Water is always going to help, and it's something I always forget to drink. I've developed a new habit- if I have a glass and finish it, I'll top it up straight away to remind me to drink more. While these are in no shape or from a cure, I think this year I am going to focus on a healthy approach when it comes to food and drink. As I do tend to grab whatever (the junkiest of junk), and it's not doing me any good. Any nice teas I should try, I would love your recommendations. I won't be cutting out all my not so great food and drink, as I'm here to enjoy life but rescuing my intake would help.

Making my first wall hanging

After receiving awful news, I wanted to sit and cry I felt numb. But I decided to channel all my hurt and pain into some thing, anything to put focus on something else so I could sleep at night. I hadn't crocheted in forever as I've had no motivation, but a chunky pink ball was on top of a pile of crafting stuff (I still need to sort). So I went over to pinterest for some inspiration, and wall hanging were everywhere. While I still want to lear how to weave, I thought it best for now just to crochet one. As my goal was to distract myself, not cause myself more stress.

It was really easy to make, and didn't take long at all. I know I've said this a lot, but when I have more time I will write up some patterns this year. As I've designed and made things I would love to share with you. I really loved how it turned out, and played around a lot with the design. I've decided I'm going to make one for my mum next in blue, as it's her birthday soon and I want to buy her something and make her something. I forgot how much I need to craft, it's like a therapy for me and it does help me deal with my feelings in a calm way as pass me wasn't so great at managing them. I think they also are a great way to cheer up my poor walls, which are in need of painting but will have to wait for now.

My Boots

I've ended up with a fair few pairs this season, in my defence I got them for Christmas  and also for my birthday. January has been a rough month, so having something nice at my feet has helped me through. As I'm trying to break out of my converse, that I'm wearing like a comfort blanket this season. I'm also being good, and clearing out all the 'pretty' shoes and boots, that if I tried to wear I'd end up breaking every bone in my body. Yeah you can keep all that negativity back in 2017 I'm good thanks. I don't think I'll be adding anymore to my collection, as I have a bunch more that aren't seen here. I just thought I would share my newer ones. When I have a pair of boots, I will wear them till they literally fall apart so they are my best investment.

It's still freezing here in the U.K, so I think boots are a must have at the moment for this weather. The skies the limit when it comes to them, weather you prefer flat to heeled. But this season the boot has been given a boost, it's become an important part of an outfit. Patterned, metallics, sock boots, chunky block heels, cowboy flats. There are so many choices and honestly boots are such a great way to elevate your look and dress up your basics. The right pair make all the difference.
