Is Social Media Deciding For You?

As amazing as social media is- She says while scrolling her Twitter timeline. Does it takeover and even influence where you go, who you see and even what you do? Are you more likely to just tweet or Facebook a friend, rather than text or phone them. Would you go to a restaurant or buy from a shop because everyone on your Instagram feed has. I would love to say that I am in no way guilty, but I would most defiantly be lying and I'm guessing this would go for most of you too.

Yes I'm more likely to tweet a mate, than text them. Sadly a lot of my close friends are not social media savvy, one of my friends refuses to ever join Facebook. In another way I like this, it means I have to make the effort to pick up the phone and  we actual talk to each other. Than on the other hand, I'm a sucker for Instagram and I can't help but want to explore places where people go. Of course it's nice to post up photos of being out and about, it's wonderful to see where different people go and look back at where you have been. Plus it beats uploading a photo of your sad looking dinner at home, into Pixfx to stick heart lights on it (were all guilty of the abusing the lights feature).

It's nice to see what people actual use too, there's a lot of hype in the blog world. So when you see someone with a lipstick on out and about, I'm more likely to think it must be worth it. It's not that it has really taken over, I think could step away from it. I think it's just about feeling more connected, I live in London. If someone smiles at you here, you can only assume that maybe your about to be mugged. That their smiling because their thinking of ways to spend your money.

Sometimes it's nice to have a break from it all. Not check your timelines, be out with people in real life and not have to tweet or Instagram anything. It's like we have stopped living in the moment and letting it past, social media has given us an almost sense that we must document everything in life. It's something to be loved and loathed, it's all about keeping the balance. Also knowing who you are, and what you actual like. Yes it's nice to be a little influenced, you can end up discovering something new. Your life should be thee most important to you, and your opinion. So if you dislike something, but it has 137 'likes' or whatever than know that's perfectly fine.

Do you ever find yourself buying something, because you have seen it on someones Twitter/Instagram? Are you discovering things you like or loath ? Or do you fine, you end up being overwhelmed with other peoples sharing. Would love to hear what you have to say....

  1. I'm a naturally nosy person and love seeing what people are up to wearing/ Buying/ loving even eating lol I do think its important to get a balance right, don't let it take over your life, and stay true to yourself! it can be a bit over whelming an I've often had to stop myself from rushing out an joining the hype of something that's just not me! It's easy to get caught up in it! An if I get like this I no it's time to take a step back ( just a little 1 lol)

  3. It's always nice to be in the know, but don't let it take over your life. I look at social media as a medium to express myself, get insights from, but not to decide for me...
